Register for the 2018 WBC OPEN São Paulo

Register here for the 2nd WBC OPEN to be hosted in São Paulo, Brazil from October 12-14, 2018.

The World Ballet Competition has announced the return of WBC OPEN to São Paulo, Brazil for its 2nd annual edition to be hosted from October 12-14, 2018.

Dancers, ages 9-24, are eligible to compete in various dance styles including classical ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, neoclassical, and lyrical. Competitors have the opportunity to win scholarships, contract offers, dance merchandise and an invitation to advance to the WBC’s 2019 World Finals held in Orlando, Florida, USA.

As the largest city in the Southern Hemisphere, São Paulo is Brazil's main financial hub and its most cosmopolitan city, with top-rate nightlife and restaurants and impressive cultural and arts scenes. With more than 16.5 million tourists per year, the city is an ideal location for international participants. The World Ballet Competition is proud to bring back more talented competitors to the city.

Participants of last year’s WBC OPEN won 15 scholarships from the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., Central Florida Ballet, Faces Oculates, Mostra Danca, and Cia de Dancas de Diadema. Four company member contracts were awarded from the Teatrul de Balet Sibiu in Sibiu, Romania. Furthermore, 17 soloists and 7 ensemble pieces won invitations to advance the World Ballet Competition’s world finals in Orlando, Florida, USA.

About the World Ballet Competition: Judged by major international dance masters and artistic directors, the competition draws aspiring young dancers and professionals from around the globe. The World Ballet Competition has exploded in popularity because of its emphasis on fairness and technology: utilizing an computerized scoring system that instantly shows scoring results to the audience and viewers watching worldwide. Since its 2007 inauguration, more than has been awarded $2.8 million in cash prizes, scholarships, job contracts, and dance merchandise. WBC has helped launch the professional careers of previous competitors now affiliated with ballet companies in: Boston, San Francisco, Europe, Russia, Sweden, Japan and Canada.
