Dancers, age 9-24, can apply for the 2022 World Ballet Competition in categories from Introductory to Professional (soloist), Ensemble and Choreography. Applications are accepted from November 1, 2021 through March 11, 2022 while spots and entries are available. Prizes include the $10,000 Grand Prix award which is open to all categories.
Judged by major international dance masters and artistic directors, the World Ballet Competition draws aspiring young dancers and professionals from around the globe to compete for more than $300,000 in cash prizes, scholarships, job contracts, and dance merchandise.
The 2022 World Ballet Competition Finals will be held from June 13-18, 2022 in Orlando, Florida, USA and includes a multi-day series of events of: Daily Competition Rounds, Master Class Workshop, International Job Fair, Judge & Competitor Conference, Award Ceremony and culminates in an electrifying All Stars Performance Gala starring international guest artists alongside winning competitors.
Since its 2007 inauguration, WBC has awarded more than $3.5 million in prizes and helped launch the professional careers of previous competitors now affiliated with ballet companies in: Boston, San Francisco, Europe, Russia, Sweden, Japan and Canada. Most recently, the World Ballet Competition was recognized in a television segment by Canada's Breakfast Television as a "high profile, high pressure competition" and by Australian Radio: 891 ABC Adelaide as "one of the most significant ballet competitions in the world".
The World Ballet Competition has become an important fixture on the international dance scene as well as on Orlando’s annual calendar of events. Each year thousands of dancers and their families worldwide travel to Florida's sunshine and world-famous theme parks. The 2021 WBC attracted participants representing 20 countries and 26 U.S. states. Winning dancers were awarded more than $350,000 in scholarships, cash prizes, job offers and dance apparel.
Furthermore, a stunning economic impact of $3.85 million was estimated to be generated for for Central Florida area (based on Americans For The Arts Survey of WBC). The week-long event generates over 2,500 hotel rooms, the largest of any dance group in Central Florida.
