The World Ballet Competition USA – (WBC USA) - is geared towards professionally oriented dancers and is open to Individuals, Pas de Deux or Ensembles of ALL nationalities; granted that they comply with all rules and regulations of the World Ballet Competition. The 2018 Finals will be held June 10-16 in Orlando, Florida, USA at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center.

Each competitor is screened via Video Audition, prior to being accepted to compete in Orlando, in order to maintain the quality and prestige of the World Ballet Competition held in Orlando, Florida, USA. A select panel of judges will view the submitted material and will recruit all dancers who qualify to be in the competition. Judgment will be based on talent, technique, execution, musicality and artistry.

AUDITION DEADLINE

The Video Application Deadline  is March 15, 2018. The Application must be postmarked by March 15, 2018 or submitted online by 11:59pm (Applications submitted after March 15 will be accepted but will be at higher risk of being placed on the Waiting List). The audition fees are non-refundable and viewing materials are non-returnable. Applications are processed in order of date received.

VIDEO AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

All dancers should be filmed in either a rehearsal or a performance. Applicants may use a costume or class attire (with no additional accessories). If sending a video from a performance, the video must only feature the applicant(s) of the World Ballet Competition. Viewing material must be filmed within approximately 8 months prior to the competition date. Edited and/or altered viewing material will not be considered. Applicant must provide most recent video available.

Applicants in each category must film the following number of solos and submit with their Video Audition Application. All solos filmed MUST be from the WBC 2018 Classical Ballet Repertoire List for your category (Note: If you do not have a solo from the Repertoire List ready at this time, you can submit a variation that is not on the list. However if you are accepted to compete - all variations need to be from the Repertoire List (exception Round 2 for Pre-Professional/Professional Competitors).

 Introductory Category (age 9-11)  Film 1 Ballet Solo (female dancers may be on flat or pointe)
 Preparatory Category (age 12-13)  Film 1 Ballet Solo (female dancers must be on pointe)
 Pre-Professional Category (age 14-16)  Film 2 Ballet Solos (female dancers must be on pointe)
 Professional Category (age 17-24)  Film 2 Ballet Solos (female dancers must be on pointe)
 Group Categories  Required for Video Audition
 Pas de Deux Category (age 14-24)  Film 1 Pas de Deux (including adagio, variations, and coda)
 Ensemble Category (age 9-24)

 Film 1 Group Piece (A separate video and application must be

completed for each group piece you would like to compete)

 Please keep in mind MORE solos are REQUIRED if you are accepted to compete in Orlando.

If you are submitting your application by postal mail, please complete the documents below:

  1. Audition Form 

    Individual Audition Form  -  Pas de Deux Audition Form   -  Ensemble Audition Form

    Note: Before typing in information, save the document to your desktop and rename the file such as "AngelinaBallerinaAudition". Close the document and then reopen to ensure you have saved it properly.

  2. Headshot picture of good quality (must be passport size with white background, will be used for Program book if accepted)
  3. Biographical information (following the biography requirements here)
  4. Audition Video (following video requirements here)
  5. Audition Fee (include a check or money order in U.S. Dollars only)

*Incomplete Applications will NOT be sent to the Judging Panel. If your application is missing an item, you will be notified by WBC Staff and your application will only be submitted when all items have been received. 

*Waiting List FAQ: Applicants placed on the Waiting List will be notified via email. An applicant's position on the Waiting List is not provided. Please be aware that if you receive notification of acceptance, the registration fees will be due immediately to secure your place in the competition. Applicants may be accepted from the Waiting List from March 15 - April 15 if a spot becomes available.

You must type a brief biography into your Audition Form, strictly following the example below.

Please note: Your biography is needed solely for the WBC Program. It is NOT considered by the WBC Judging Panel. Do NOT submit a resume or page-long biography.
