February 15: Deadline for Soloist & Ensemble WBC 2019 Applications

The World Ballet Competition (WBC) has announced the Application Deadline is February 15 for the 2019 World Finals: Apply Online Here. The event will be held from April 21-27, 2019 in Orlando, Florida, USA. The dynamic closing All Stars Performance will be held on April 27. 

Judged by major international dance masters and artistic directors, the competition draws aspiring young dancers and professionals from around the globe to compete for more than $300,000 in cash prizes, scholarships, job contracts, and dance merchandise. 

Several events will be held throughout the week including: Daily Competition Rounds, Master Class Workshop, International Job Fair, Judge & Competitor Conference, and Award Ceremony. Non-competing are also eligible to register for the Master Class Workshop and International Job Fair via a Video Audition. 

The World Ballet Competition concludes on April 27 with an All Stars Performance Gala featuring an opening piece performed by all WBC Competitors. The performance will showcase ballet and contemporary works by international guest artists as well as soloist & ensemble winning competitors.

Since its 2007 inauguration, WBC has helped launch the professional careers of previous competitors now affiliated with ballet companies in: Boston, San Francisco, Europe, Russia, Sweden, Japan and Canada.

It has been gratifying to see the tremendous growth and the appreciation of our participants for hosting the event.” said Vasile Petrutiu, founder of the WBC.

Applications are accepted until February 15, 2019 while spots and entries are available. Dancers can apply for the WBC in categories of Soloist, Ensemble and Choreography. Prizes include the $10,000 Grand Prix award which is open to all categories.

The World Ballet Competition has become an important fixture on the international dance scene as well as on Orlando’s annual calendar of events. Each year thousands of dancers and their families worldwide travel to Florida's sunshine and world-famous theme parks. The 2018 WBC attracted participants representing 27 nations and 30 U.S. states. Winning dancers were awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships, cash prizes, job offers and dance apparel.

Furthermore, a stunning economic impact for Central Florida of $2.8 million is estimated to be generated from the 13th World Finals (based on Americans For The Arts Survey of WBC). The week-long event generates over 2,500 hotel rooms, the largest of any dance group in Central Florida.
